Considering how much dust Sean felt he had inhaled since he had stepped into St Mary’s library, he was surprised that Sister Pam hadn’t died from a respiratory condition long before she was found floating face down in the sea. He was sure that if he just waved his finger through the air he would collect a substantial amount of dust upon the tip of it.

“Can you smell the history in here?” Theo asked Sean and Lou.

“No, but I can taste something funny in the air.” Lou answered.

She stuck out her tongue. “Would it kill them to use a little air freshener around here?” Lou continued.

“I don’t know. I kind of like it. It feels like you’re stepping into the past.” Theo continued. Sean noted the smile on his boyfriend's face and was happy to see him enjoying his impromptu visit to the convent.

“If this is what you’re like in a dusty old library I would hate to see how you would act if we ever took you to a museum where it’s wall to wall history. You would probably have an orgasm!” Lou commented and then quickly bit her lip as Sister Faith and Sister Bryony entered through a door nearby. They both held in their arms a selection of thick heavy books.

“Don’t stop on my account. Did I hear the mention of someone having an orgasm?” Sister Faith playfully asked as she proceeded to drop the books she was holding loudly onto a table nearby, creating a new cloud of dust to shoot up into the air. “I don’t mind really. This place has a habit of making me very horny.” Sister Faith continued.

“Sister Faith!” Sister Bryony called out in horror as she placed her books on the table a little more quietly.

“Oh what. I think these people are intelligent enough to know that nuns are still people with their own needs and desires. I’m sure the author can relate.” Sister Faith stated before looking over at Sean waiting for an answer. Theo and Lou didn’t help as they looked his way too, probably wondering what words of wisdom were going to leave his lips.

“…It’s fine. An unexpected topic of conversation. Especially here… but it’s fine.” Sean muttered.

“Everything is an unexpected topic of conversation here unless it’s about God.” Faith commented. She pulled herself up and sat on the dusty table next to the pile of books with her legs swinging below. “So what’s it like being a writer? Is it lots of swanky parties and a long line of women?” Sister Faith asked him. Sister Bryony looked as uncomfortable with the question as Sean felt.

“Far from it.” Sean quickly replied.

“Maybe a long line of men.” Lou unhelpfully chipped in.

“That’s not what I meant.” Sean argued. He watched Sister Faith’s eyes get wider in recognition of Sean’s sexuality and then she glanced over at Theo and shook her head.

“I am so out of touch. That’s what being here does to you I suppose. I should have guessed. No straight guy is as snappily dressed as you, no matter how hard they try.
